The inspiration behind Protocol65.
Protocol
In the field of medicine, Protocols are evidence-based guides that summarize existing scientific research and provide a set of research-backed guidelines to inform decision-making on a particular topic. Protocols serve an incredibly importance purpose in medicine and healthcare, helping bridge the gap between high-quality medical research and the daily decisions of medical providers.
We sorely lack this type of mechanism in behavioral science, resulting in an incredibly weak connection between the latest behavioral science research and the daily decisions in most businesses and organizations. We all suffer as a result, as we’re left with motivation, learning, bias, and performance processes that are woefully outdated and ineffective.
Building on the successful model from the medical field, we’ve adopted the Protocol to help to bridge the substantial gap between business and behavioral science.

The life and career of Hungarian physician Ignaz Semmelweis has served as an important source of inspiration for us. Semmelweis showcased a tenacity and unwavering commitment to evidence-based practice, rejecting the common - and misguided - medical practices of his time in favor of solutions that were grounded in high-quality research and experimentation.
Semmelweis had a tremendous positive impact on the health of his patients and saved the lives of countless new mothers from the ravages of childbed fever. Semmelweis died in 1865 and we’ve decided to pay tribute to his life in our name.
